Live Earth was a one off event developed to combat climate change. The first series of benefit concerts were held on July 7, 2007. The concerts brought together more than 150 musical acts in eleven locations around the world which were broadcast to a mass global audience through televisions, radio, and streamed via the Internet. The design for the stage involved a low resolution graphic pattern created in recycled objects sourced locally to the concert. In different versions of the shows, the objects varied from oil cans, car tyres and in other locations metal bin lids. The pixels were painted red and white to form the map of the world to form the backdrop for the event.
