“One Amazing Day” the third edition of the unique Intimissimi On Ice played for 2 nights in October in the spectacular surroundings of the Arena di Verona in Italy. Continuing our long standing relationships with Italian show producers Balich Worldwide Shows and director Kim Gavin, Stufish designed the setting for the show which merges the worlds of opera, pop music, figure skating and fashion creating an enchanting environment inside the historic setting.
The orthogonal structure of the set is juxtaposed with the sinuous shape of the 42 meter wide ice rink, blending the fluid motion of the ice skaters with the architecture. The structure, built up of scaffolding bays with each surface clad in a fabric surface, was fully projection mapped, along with the ice surface itself, to create a seamless entity within the arena. The individual bays contained the live orchestra and performers, that at key moments were back lit to highlight them within the structure and create another layer of depth to the aesthetic.
Inspired by the stunning surroundings of the ancient architecture, the beauty of the music, dynamic choreography and glamorous fashion, the show sits in a rare position between a music rock show and theatrical production. The result was an extraordinary event, blending architecture, spectacle and art.
